Old Rant on Sweatpants, Spandex and Crocs

I found this rant that I wrote for a Grade 11 English assignment!

I still agree with every part of it, Prepare yourself for very direct thoughts! I thought it would be a great post!

People who purposely chose to wear certain items of clothing that are so blatantly wrong should not be allowed to leave their house! There are three major fashion faux-pas, which in my mind, should be avoided by all people, Sweatpants, Crocs, and Spandex. I don’t mean avoided all together, just avoided when going out in public, like a mall or an Airport.

Sweatpants are one of my major pet peeves because they cover everything; but you may be surprised to know they also show many things about a person, emotionally and physically, and guess what the things they show aren’t pretty.

The structure of sweatpants is non-existent, this terrible! They puff out making anyone who wears them look bigger, and consequently more unattractive.

People should know, and if they don’t know then find out what parts of them look good, and from that wear clothing that accentuates the parts that look good. With sweatpants you aren’t accentuating anything, your hiding it all, and we’ll get to why you’re hiding it later.

“But they’re comfortable” I hear this from almost everyone I confront about sweatpants and I think this is a pathetic excuse to hide the fact that they are just lazy people, who would prefer to get half an hour longer asleep than looking fabulous all day. Or I hear, “I have been having a bad day,” and they think that justifies them looking like crap. I think if you’re having a bad day, looking good will help you either get over the “badness” or gain the confidence to hit the trouble on the top of the head.

Not only do sweatpants show that extreme laziness, they also show a lack of confidence. Sweatpants give the impression that you are hiding something you don’t want others to see, meaning you aren’t confident in your body.

From constant use of sweatpants comes a lack of confidence that will eventually get so big that you will never know what its like to love the body you have. If you can’t love your self how the heck are you going to let anyone else love you!

Now I’m not saying that sweatpants can never be worn, if you are lounging around your house alone then these are a perfectly acceptable pant. If its cold and you want to wear them to bed, these are a fine option. If you are working out in an area that maybe ha a slight breeze, again a completely acceptable choice. Just as soon as you step out of your front door, or that gym you better have different pants on.

So I would just recommend being aware of your surroundings so you realize when you should be wearing sweatpants and when you shouldn’t.

Another item of clothing, that is unacceptable in most scenarios, is extremely tight spandex. This material can be found in pants as pants or as shirts. I use the word spandex, but really I mean extremely tight stretchy clothing. Spandex does the opposite of what sweatpants do to you. Spandex shows every little imperfection, it shows wrinkles, bulges, rolls and any other annoyance you have with your body.

Some common misconduct of spandex; wearing leggings in place of pants, wearing clothing so tight it hurts or is tremendously difficult to get on and off. Even if you have a near to perfect body it still gives you no right to wear clothing that is so tight, everyone can see texture on your body.

Unlike sweatpants, you have to have huge amounts of confidence to wear Spandex, but what you have in confidence you’re lacking is self-control. Wearing spandex leggings or shirts is showing the world way too much, especially if you don’t have the ideal body shape to begin with and if you’re willing to show that much to everyone you don’t know, then where is your limit.

Spandex can be appropriate in some places, but in small doses. Leggings are acceptable under a skirt or dress (as long as they go with the other piece). Spandex is perfectly fine if doing an activity where it calls for spandex, like swimming, running etc. And just like sweatpants, spandex is fine if you are lounging around the house, if you find that comfortable.

My final fashion faux-pas is Crocs, I hate them for so many reasons I can not begin to count them! But I will!

They do not go with anything! They are a piece of rubber on your foot, nothing goes with a piece of rubber. Jeans? No! Skirt? No! Dress? No! Suit? No! Sweatpants? YA! (BUT DON’T DO IT!!). So really there is no reason for Crocs.

Also they don’t do anything for your figure. Heels make a woman’s butt look great. Dress shoes make men feel confident and they will straighten their backs when they walk. Crocs are like slippers that can handle dirt, they’ll make you want to curl up and fall asleep. So if you wanna wear them in bed then go for it!

Also what is with the holes?? I mean I know it’s for ventilation, but you wouldn’t need ventilation if your foot wasn’t draped in rubber! EW! Dirt will get in, water will get in, bugs will get in and lots of other stuff.

In addition I saw somewhere that people’s feet are getting mangled up in escalators, so I looked into it, and it’s true! Like the Crocs are being pulled in and crunched and toes are getting eaten by the escalators, so if your going to wear Crocs don’t go on escalators, but a better option is don’t wear Crocs and go on all the escalators you want!

What is with those little clip-on jewelry things, can some one please explain those to me! Who wants that on their foot! Well obviously some people, but not smart people!

When I see little kids in Crocs it saddens my heart to know that they will grow up in a household that wants them to fail in life. People who want to put their children in Crocs should not be allowed to have kids. You may be thinking “oh they are less work for me because if they get dirty I can just hose them off” well you are right, in the moment, yes it is easier but in the long run your child will need serious counseling!

So I would seriously consider all your options before buying those disgusting shoes called “Crocs,” OH AND WHATS WITH THE NAME!?!?

If this rant caused you any form of pain, I am truly sorry but if you are going against these basic rules you probably deserve it. Also, These are my personal opinions if you don’t agree with them, I’m OK with that
