Dressing for Busy-ness

Posted on 12th January 2010 by Knox in Fashion Rules - Tags: , , , , , ,

These last couple of weeks have been completly hectic with deadlines and travel and moving! and maybe some of you have been feeling the same way! So this post will be dedicated to be dressing when in busy times when you feel like giving up and dressing in a time crunch!

First off, if you know the morning of that its gunna be a busy day, wear comfortable shoes… comfortable does not mean ugly! (Crocs are most definatly a no-no)

Also, dress as if you are going to accomplish something!
-When you walk by someone in sweats and an over-sized hoodie do you think:  “they look like their going to do something great today!” ?
– No, didn’t think so…

If you dress for the day you want, and if your busy and you need to get stuff done, dress as if you mean business.. if you dress in lounge pants all your going to feel like doing is lounging around and you wont accomplish anything.

And if you are going to take a day off and relax, well then by all means don’t wear a suit! Put on those lounge pants and lounge like crazy!

Now if you keep hitting the snooze button, until you have 10 minutes before you have to be out the door… here are some quick dressing tips (I cant help you with the eating or showering part!)
- Have an idea of what you want to wear the night before, if that means picking it out do so.. but at least think about it
-Pick a base piece that goes with almost everything(Blue Jeans, White Button-Up, Black Jacket) , so there’s no struggle to find something that “goes”

I hope this post helps you through your own busy life! I find these little things help me survive life!

Painting Clothes!

Posted on 27th November 2009 by Knox in Fashion Rules - Tags: , , , ,

With a recent renovation and move, I am dedicating this post to painting clothes!!

When choosing clothes to paint in… be sure not to wear anything that cost you more then 20 dollars!  But also don’t look like you rolled our of bed! What if an attractive single knocks on your door as your painting, keep the possibilities open…

Girls try tying an old shirt up, to show off your abs, like so…

Men, show off your biceps with a old fitted muscle shirt, as shown here…

Seven Vital Mistakes!

Posted on 23rd September 2009 by Knox in Fashion Rules - Tags: , , , , , , ,

So the latest issue of GQ came out with seven mistakes that men make when it comes to style! I think these are fantastic!
So I want to share with all you.. if you dont subscribe to GQ and also to add some for the women.

Men (By GQ)

1. Schlumpy Leather Jacket —-> Fixable —-> Snug Bomber Leather Jacket

2. The Barack Obama Jeans —->Fixable —-> Medium-rise Dark Wash Jeans

3. The Cheap Printed Tie —–> Fixable —-> Sturdy Silk Understated Patterned Tie

4. Sagging Suit Pants ———> Fixable —-> Tailored Pants with Little to No Break

5. The Pancake Collar ——–> Fixable —–> Firm Collars with Collar Stays

6. Right Suit, Wrong Belt —–> Fixable —–> 1-1.5 Inch Belt with Subtle Belt

7. The Oversize Suit ———–> Fixable —–> Fitted Suit

Now my own 7 Mistakes Women Make:

1. Shapeless Tops ——-> Fixable —–> Form-fitting Blouses

shapeless

Fitted Top

2. All Neutral Colors (Black, Grey, Brown, Denim) –> Fixable –> Add a Pop of Color

3.  Mom Jeans (Women’s: Obama Jeans) –> Fixable –> Medium Rise Straight Leg

4. Grungy Kicks(Sneakers) with Classy Outfit —> Fixable —> Hawt Pumps(Heels)!

5.  Over-Accessorized –> Fixable –> One Chunky, Two Subtle or Three Subtle

6.  Holiday Ski Resort Sweater –> Fixable –> Fitted Cashmere Sweater

7. Dressing 20 Years Younger –> Fixable –> Grow Up!

I hope these helped! Because it was sure fun making them!

First and Foremost Rule

Posted on 13th September 2009 by Knox in Fashion Rules - Tags: , , ,

When shopping, when getting dressed in the morning you have to use this one rule:

“Use Your Body, Mind and Soul”

The first part of that should seem obvious, use your body! Obviously if you are putting clothes on it then you are  going to be using your body.  But you need to know how to use your body properly, that’s why you are reading this.  This is the most technical part of this rule, by using your body correctly you have to know your body! Example: if someone is already concerned with their weight they should not wear horizontal strips on their largest feature because it would just make accentuate said feature.  Because if the certain clothing you have chosen doesn’t fit your body type, then why do you want it?

The second part of this rule may also seem a little obvious but for lots it isn’t!  Time for an exercise!!!  Everyone imagine they were meeting someone for the first time, before you have time to open your mouth, what are the 3 positive words you want this other person to associate with you? Words like Sexy, Confident, and Charismatic come to my mind, what about you?  If any of the words you picked are Comfortable, Inexpensive or Easy, I suggest you try again.  Now these 3 words will help you out for the rest of your life! Every time you go shopping and pick up a piece of clothing that catches your eye, try it on for good measure, but when you’re trying it on, looking in the mirror ask your self which one of my 3 words does this convey, if none, then why do you want it?

The last part is probably the simplest part of the rule to follow yet probably the least used,  you have to use your soul, your heart and your gut.  When shopping, or getting dressed look at yourself in the mirror, and ask “Do I Love This??” If your answer is anything other then “Completely and Utterly,” then why do you want it?

“Use Your Body, Mind and Soul”

If you follow this rule, you’ll be the best dressed person in every room
